J. Jill to close one Jacksonville store - Business First of Buffalo:

Nine of the 75 stores to be closed arein Florida, includint the one in The Avenues mall. A second Jacksonvill e J. Jill location at the St. Johns Town Center will remain open. In a statement announcin the sale, Talbots President and CEO Trudy Sullivan saidit “enable us to focus our time, resources and attention exclusivelyu on rejuvenating our core Talbots brand and return to profitable growth.” The transactiob includes the transfer of certain assets and liabilitied to the buyer, including a distributiom center in New Hampshire, the subleasse of a portion of the Quincy, Mass., headquartera and substantially all of the brand’w intellectual property and inventories.
The remaining 204 storese will continue to operate undefrthe J. Jill The headquarters for the compang will remainin Quincy. The J. Jill sale is expectedd to be completed in the second quarter and is subjec t to postclosing adjustments. San Franciscl based-Golden Gate Capital acquired Jacksonville-based Venus in 2006. The acquisitioj was Golden Gate’s 11th in two Last month Venus announced that all 290 employees were in jeopardh of losing their jobs when the swimweadr and ladies apparel company lostits financing. With its latest catalot recentlybeing released, Venux employees are still working, at leas for now, and company executivez are looking for a new buyer to acquir the company.
