Green Township OKs Mercy hospital plan - Washington Business Journal:

The plan passed 3-0. “We’r e very pleased to get to this stagwe and excited to take thenext step,” said Pete Gemmer, spokesmab for Mercy. “We realize there is stil l a lot of work to do and we look forware to continuing to work with the residents and the townshio leaders to develop a hospitakl everyone can beproud of.” The project will now be submitted to the Hamilton County Regional Commission for consideration, probablgy next month, Gemmer said. The plannede hospital and parking areas would cover about 40 acresw and sit near toInterstate 74. The facility, to cost $200 could open in early 2014. The proposedd site is 60 acres.
Mercy has said it will closde itstwo West-Side hospitals: Mercy Hospita l Western Hills and Mercy Hospital Mount Airy. The new with 200 to 250 beds, will be a replacement for them. Some resident s in the area had expressed concern s about increased traffic as a resul t ofthe hospital, whose main accesx road would be from North Bend at roughly the midway pointf between Kleeman and Boomer. Gemmer said a traffic impact study through the HamiltonCounty Engineer’s Officr is nearly complete.
